They hosted most of the family for Christmas this year. Steven & Meredith were unable to be there due to work schedules but Sonya flew out and Jim & Maryann drove up as well. It made for a full house but everyone enjoyed themselves. They had lots of time to visit and enjoy each other's company. Joy has been feeling much better since the move to Edmonton and is very happy there.
Trevor
Trevor has made a few calls back to Canada. He's having a great time in Bosnia, much better than he expected. He is situated in a large, former carpet factory. The building was gutted and now houses all the tents that they live in. It's like a large tent city indoors. The compound is surrounded by barbed wire, etc. to keep them safe and apart from everyone else. He says it's a bit like being at summer camp except, of course, they're all grown up and carry around real guns. He loves his job as Quarter Master and has met many interesting people. He likes the countryside as well and wants to explore it as a civilian some day. He finds the local customs very interesting and is learning a lot. It was a different kind of
Sonya
Sonya is enjoying her new job with Revenue Canada. She's helping to build their web-site, which she finds very interesting. She flew to Edmonton to spend Christmas with Joy & Reg. She had a lot of time off over the holiday. (Her cat is still punishing her) She is now planning her trip to Nova Scotia in February.
Steven & Meredith
Steven is now the Assistant Manager of the Computer Dept in London Drugs Surrey store. Meredith is working at the White Rock branch. They spent a quiet Christmas together this year. Unfortunately their work schedules did not allow them to spend Christmas with the family in Alberta. Steven was also unlucky enough to have a bad case of the flu on Christmas Day so he barely even got out of bed!
I talked to Uncle Jack in mid-October and again in January. He had health problems over the holidays and now has a new pacemaker.
Wendy & Dick were in Strasbourg for Christmas, as usual. In February Wendy, Dick & Chris will fly to Toronto to visit Dick's sister for a few days. Dick is still enjoying his job as a park superintendent. He says that Ken Kelly is still with the Parks Dept. as well. Hard to believe that "Killer Kelly" hasn't retired yet.
Brian & Heather hosted Christmas for Brian's family. Michele & Steve were there from Cold Lake with two of their kids. Shayne spent Christmas with his Dad's inlaws. Reinhold also spent Christmas at Brian's. Grace spent the time in Saskatoon with her mother who is nearly 92 and hasn't been well recently.
Erwin & Joan are going to be grandparents again! They already have little Levi and Robyn is now expecting her second baby in late June. Bridget is also expecting next summer in August.
