competition in the fall. She and her partner are the Western Regional Champs. The nationals were in Comox at the end of Sept. Joy & her partner took 3rd place nationally with the other Edmonton team taking first. Joy, Reg and the girls all drove to Sask to visit her Grandpa Payak late in the summer. Joy then flew back again in Sept. for another visit and again for the funeral when he passed away. She was happy that he was at least able to meet his newest great grand-daughter before he died.

Trevor
Trevor continues to work hard at his job in Bosnia. Hillary joined him for a visit when he had 3 weeks leave in Sept. He looks forward to hearing from everyone in the family, hopefully at Christmas time. Any of you who remember the TV show M*A*S*H will remember how much army guys love getting letters from home when they are in a foreign country. His address (first page) needs only a local Canadian stamp. All mail is forwarded to him.

Sonya
Sonya has had a flurry of activity. She flew to Sask, along with Joy, Steven & folks to visit her Grandpa Payak in early Sept. They all no sooner returned home and he died so she got back on a plane and returned to Sask for the funeral. She is very happy to have been left some books from his prized collection. Now she is planning a trip to Nova Scotia in Feb. for a major figure skating competition which she will be attending with Jo-Anne and some of her friends.

Steven & Meredith
Meredith plans a trip to England in November when her mother gets married. Steven & Meredith both went to Sask in the late summer so she could meet some of the relatives that she hadn't met last trip.

Heard from Michele & Steve (Reinhold's daughter). All is well with them. Her daughter Kristina is living with them. Shane is living in Edmonton and is taking a Business Administration course at NAIT this fall. They had a good summer in Cold Lake with lots of sunshine and

warm temperatures. Michele & Steve went to Brooklyn, Michigan in August to see a Nascar race. Their son Brendan stayed with friends in Cold Lake. Kristina flew to Lethbridge to spend some time with Brian & Heather. She also visited Reinhold & Grace while in the area.
Reinhold & Grace have been busy exploring Alberta and enjoying their home and family there.
Brian is taking a 2 year computer course, sponsored by a government grant. He scored very high on the entrance exam.
Uncle Erwin in Vancouver e-mailed recently. See Bits & Bytes for his e-mail address. He tells me their grandson, Levi, is just over a year old and quite an active little guy. Being a typical proud Grandpa, Erwin thinks Levi is the smartest kid in the whole world. I expect a few Grandpa's in the crowd might want to challenge him on that! Joan babysits little Levi quite regularly. Their daughter Bridget is married and living in McBride, BC. Erwin & Joan plan a trip to visit her early in Oct. and then continuing on to Innisfail to visit Laura, Ted, Reinhold & Grace. Joan is off work on long term disability these days due to arthritis. Erwin has been working for a company in Richmond for 6
