years now since the shipyards closed. He runs a computer controlled machining centre. They make railroad switching equipment for most railroads in North America.

Maryann's father, Mike Payak, passed away in hospital in Regina on Sept. 14. He was 85 years old and had been ill for a short time. He leaves behind his wife Joyce and children Maryann and Don. Also, Maryann's husband Jim (Uhl) and their children Joyann, Sonya & Steven, Joy's husband Reg and their daugthers Andi, Brandi-Lee, Courtney & Samantha, as well as Steven's wife Meredith.
Also, Don's wife Charlotte and their children Christopher & Kimberly.

Dad & Evelyn went on a tour of part of Sask in mid Sept. They spent several days going through the Badlands, Assiniboia, Big Beaver, Swift Current, Sask Landing, Rosetown, Outlook, Buffalo Pound and all points inbetween. They had great weather and enjoyed it immensely. They were expecting some of the family for Thanksiving dinner.
They enjoyed a warm summer in Alberta and have been exploring their old haunts from when they lived there years ago. Maryann drove with Reg, Joy & girls to visit her Dad in Weyburn. He had been quite ill. Jim & Maryann went on another trip to Sask in Sept. along with all their kids. Jim was in hospital with a throat infection in mid-Sept., just a few hours in Emergency to get antibiotics. Maryann's Dad died in Sept. and they went home for the funeral.
Leading up to Thanksgiving weekend they had to go out to buy a new snow shovel, etc. There was 6 inches of snow in their area!

Jeanne & Fred enjoyed their summer, spending a lot of time in the garden. Jeanne had to report some strange plants to the Dept. of Agriculture. She planted tomato plants and they grew the oddest looking tomatoes she had ever seen - they looked like a cross between a tomato and a yellow pepper! (Personally, I thought she'd been smoking something funny or on some "medication" but the Dept. of
Ag. took her seriously) They have been told it's a mutant plant and Jeanne saved the seeds to see what she gets from it next year!
They are both quite excited about their trip to Yellowknife for a month over Christmas. Most normal people would never go north in the winter but they've never claimed to be normal. Terry & Judy are sending them the tickets as a Christmas gift. Jeanne & Fred went on the 80th pilgrimage to the Colony at Kroneau. Jackie joined them.
They had nasty weather on Thanksgiving Sunday - snowy, slushy rain, making a big mess and bending and breaking some trees. About 10,000 homes in Regina were without power. All this while Sask Power was on strike! I guess God must be siding with the union.
Life continues to be busy for this family. Allan is very involved in selling/renting the senior citizen condos on the river. He spent the first weekend of Oct visiting their friend Brad in Waskesiu, hoping to do some golfing. Carol has been busy with the IV program for home care and is doing some teaching in it as well.
