Christmas morning found them all at Roy & Jo-Anne's for opening gifts and a big meal. Then off to Rob's parents for the same thing.
Joy & Reg
Joy & Reg have finally received their posting. They will both be posted to Edmonton, effective July of 1998. This makes them happy because that is where Joy's best friend Barb is posted. Reg has been spending all his spare time surfing the 'net and tinkering with cars. (He and Don must be related!) Aside from her regular duties on the base, Joy has also joined the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires on a part-time basis.
Their girls are all busy growing and changing. Andi is in grade 4 and likes to help out her Mom around the house when she isn't busy with school. She was in the Christmas play. Brandi is in grade 2 and was singing in the Christmas play. She also enjoys helping out with her little sisters. Courtney, who is nearly 2 is walking and learning to talk. Little Samantha is less than a year old and spends time watching her sisters play.
Trevor has moved into a new apartment. He decided to stay in Petawawa this year over Christmas. It is the first Christmas that he and Hillary have had together and that was important to both of them.
He has been busy with all the usual training exercises. He still prefers jumping out of airplanes to just about anything else. He is hoping to get in some good snowboarding this winter.
Sonya
Sonya is back full time with Revenue Canada, in a different section than last year. Her goal is to be able to transfer to one of their offices in the Maritimes. She has also been doing some part-time work at the country club she previously worked at. They're happy to have her back whenever she has time to work for them.
Steven & Meredith
I was planning to report that Meredith was expecting a baby but she had a miscarriage on Nov. 6th. She is doing her best to stay positive and get on with life.
They had a busy and very happy Christmas with Meredith's father and brother visiting from Thailand.
Meredith has been babysitting for Joy & Reg. Steven commutes to his job in White Rock daily.
Reinhold & Grace have been enjoying exploring their part of Alberta. They have spent some time with her children who live near them, having some of them over for Thanksgiving. Reinhold works occasionally driving a pilot truck for a company that moves wide loads. They attended a major curling function in mid-December. Reinhold is curling one day a week in a senior's league in Innisfail. The curling rink is only a short walk from their home.Fred & Edna recently became great-grandparents again! This was thanks to Jos & Don's son, Donnelly, who recently became the father of a baby girl. Belle Alexandra Brown-McEwen was born Dec. 20th. Both Donnelly & Robyn go to university in Regina. Jos, of course, thinks she's much too young to be a grandma but I think she will soon find out how much fun it will be. Aunt Edna was in hospital with an angina attack just prior to Christmas. She was released in time to be home for Christmas after some tests were done. Their family Christmas was hosted by Rob & Glenda this year. Ross & Viola spent Christmas in Calgary with Rick and his
