He got second degree burns to his arms. Boys will be boys!
![]() Johnny & Heather Schaeffer were married on October 4, 1997. ![]() Dad & Evelyn had a lot of company in August. The only problem was that they had the water shut off several times while the town worked on the pipes near their place. Jo-Anne stayed there for a week. Carol, Chris, Allan & Kelsey stayed there at various times as well. They spent a week vacationing in Sept. They spent a night in Moosomin with Bertha. From there they went to Winnipeg where they stayed with Sharon & Wally. While there they visited Lower Fort Garry and the Aviation Museum where Dad saw many aircraft engines that he used to work on in WW2. They took a scenic route home from Manitoba, heading north from Brandon, overnighting in Swan River then on to Hudson Bay & Squaw Rapids. A night in Nipawin, then home through Tisdale & Melfort. Once home they had to catch up with the tomatoes and other garden produce. |
![]() They moved into their new home in late July. Jim broke a rib in Aug. at work. He slipped and fell and, of course, has no padding whatsoever to protect himself. He was working on a Ford at the time so I suppose it was to be expected. (Yes, I know, Uncle Fred would disagree!) They entertained Axel for a couple of days while he was on his way back to Germany. Jim & Maryann drove up to Sask in mid Sept. Maryann's folks have both had health problems and she went to help sort out a few things. In the meantime, Maryann is back at work 30 hours a week, which is good because Jim hasn't been getting as many hours lately. ![]() Jeanne & Fred have been attending Roughrider games. Wouldn't Jeanne have loved to be on the plane I took when I left Regina. I was literally surrounded by the team! The two of them visited in the Strasbourg area a few times in Aug and were at Dad & Evelyn's for Thanksgiving turkey. They have also been part of a self-appointed welcoming committee, greeting Jo-Anne |
(along with Carol) when she arrived at the airport and Axel (along with Jackie) when he arrived at the bus depot. They've picked up some jobs over the summer, including some painting at Gerry & Diane's farm. They won a cell phone in a radio contest, along with a few other prizes. They had the misfortune of losing their cat, Garfield. He passed away in Sept. Thanks to Brandy they got a new kitty and named him Garfy 2. ![]() Allan sold 4 houses over the Aug. long weekend and has had a very successful year all the way around. Carol had a few weeks off and travelled around visiting the family, getting in a few golf games where she could. She finished up her vacation by spending a few days with Trevor in Ont. Chris completed his summer courses and spent a few days in Strasbourg area in Aug. He's now back at university, taking several interesting courses. He has a part-time job working on the computer help desk at school, solving internet problems for students. He gets 12 hours a week and loves it. He recently bought a new VCR with his earnings.
