the end of September someone cut a whole in her belly and ripped out her appendix! Fortunately that someone was a doctor and she was in the hospital at the time. Reinhold & Grace are all moved and settled into their new place in Innisfail, Alberta. Before they left Reinhold was presented with an engraved plaque in honor of his 10 years of service as a councilor for the RM McKillop. Aunt Janette has given up her place in Kelowna. She is spending a couple of months in Vancouver while Donna is recuperating from major surgery. After that she plans to move to Regina where her son John moved this past summer. John has a house and several jobs. ![]() Maryann's parents haven't been doing very well but are still living on the farm. They may be moving into a senior's housing complex one of these days, hopefully before winter sets in. ![]() Felicia Brewster is on the internet and has been relaying messages between Jo-Anne in Halifax and Frank & Evelyn in Earl Grey. |
This service is available to all and her address can be found in Bits & Bytes.![]() Axel was busy through July with his lectures in the U.S. He spent a couple of days in N.S. in July, then decided to buy a used motorbike, drive it across the country, leave it with Jim to be sold and fly home to Germany. Plans have a way of not working out though. He made it as far as Kenora, Ont, more than half way. Just outside Kenora his bike had a nasty argument with a car. Being much bigger, the car won. Lucky for Axel a paramedic was nearby. He was the only person hurt. He spent a night in hospital with a broken right scapula, a nasty gash on his leg, badly scraped knee and bruises to various places, as well as his pride. We were all relieved that he was so lucky. He made it to Strasbourg in time for Diane & Gerry's pot luck. He became the entertainment and told the story to one and all. Niki's job was cut out for her while he was there - Axel was unable to tie his shoelaces! He stayed in Sask for several days at various homes before heading to Vancouver to |
spend a couple of days at Jim's, then flew into the U.S. and home to Germany. He has since been to see a specialist. His scapula was fractured in many places and he tore muscles as well, requiring physiotherapy. His physiotherapist is a Canadian so they have lots to talk about. In early October he had a very minor accident with his motorbike requiring only small repairs to the bike, no repairs to him. He has now parked the bike for the winter. He is back on the billiards team, playing in a higher league and his company recently offered to put him through University so he can get his PhD. ![]() I was rather hoping I wouldn't need this column again but I suppose 3 injuries makes it necessary. Jim broke his rib in August (see Jim & Maryann). Axel had the biggest accident, also in August. (see Missing Link). At last word, both were healing well. Dylan had a rough time at his birthday party, also in August. (Geez, what's with August? It must have been the position of the planets or something.) Dylan found out the hard way that gasoline really makes a camp fire big! Go to Page 4 |
