![]() Axel has been very busy at work. He also was busy doing a lot of entertaining in December when Roy & Jo-Anne were in Germany at his invitation. He was a great host and showed them as much as he could in the time they had. He spent New Year's in Siegen with friends. He had a major presentation to make to a group of managers in his company early in January. He must have done a good job at it because they did approve his project. He and his brother Jurgen are working on getting their parents hooked up to the internet.

Evelyn's mother, Mrs. Scherle, passed away on Christmas Day. She had been ill for several weeks before that but it was a surprise when she passed away suddenly in hospital. The |
whole situation was made even more difficult by the bone chilling cold that had been going on for weeks prior to her death and for a couple of weeks after. It made it much more difficult to visit much with her in hospital and for all the arrangements after. Dad & Evelyn have been very busy since then, they sold Mrs. Scherle's house much sooner than they expected. Other than all that they have been sticking pretty close to home during the cold temperatures.
Their household is just as busy as ever. During the major cold spell they spent some time questioning just why they were in a line of work that takes them outside constantly. Business has been good though, so they can't complain. They continue to spend a lot of time running back and forth from one place to another. The kids are very busy - Frank spends every spare moment curling and is very good at it. Niki continues to be a social butterfly, spending all kinds of time with her friends. Ida joined them at Dad & Evelyn's for Christmas.

![]() They have both been quite busy working on the house. Yes, they are still living in the basement but they are making good progress. They finally got a settlement from the window company that had caused so many delays. Jackie was laid off recently when Buddy's went out of business. She's now looking around for something else. The kids are all busy with their usual stuff and all are doing fine.
Oh yes, we have news. I've written a separate article about our trip. Other than that there isn't much new. I did see the Elvis Skating Tour in October. Shortly after that it was announced that Halifax will host Skate Canada in November '97. I already have tickets to that. It's a 4 day event and I can go to all of it, 3rd row - not bad! We had a lot of fun in January when we went to a taping for the TV show "This Hour has 22 Minutes." It's our favorite show and it was a lot of laughs. We have a new car. Our salesman called to tell us that with the low interest rates we could trade in our lease for a new one. We now have a '97 Cavalier,Go to Page 4 |
