stayed with him. This kid has a thing about holidays - he seems to enjoy spending them in hospital. Let's hope he gets over that! They've gone camping a lot this summer and Daniel loves it. Terry took him fishing and Daniel is a great imitator. He would watch Terry cast his line out, then Daniel would cast out anything small enough for him to throw (cups, fish weigh scale, chain, etc.) When he started eyeing the motor, Terry decided it was time to bring the boat in. Susan & Rob: Not much new to report with them. They are enjoying being supers for their apartment building. There are perks you know - they can have whichever parking spot they want! They had Alex to the hospital in June - he had a mild case of croup and an ear infection. He recovered nicely though and has since been enjoying going into the lake near their place. Susan had him in the water and actually trying to swim. Joy & Reg enjoyed a driving trip to Sask. They visited on the way with Barb and her new baby (for whom they are godparents). Joy has been doing the job of a Master Corporal since March and will continue into September. She feels it is a |
great boost to her career and hopes it will lead to a permanent advancement one of these days. Joy, Reg and the girls spend a lot of time in Surrey visiting Jim & Maryann.
Trevor & Emily: Trevor is definitely going to be continuing in Petawawa. He is now Light Infantry rather than Airborne (very similar duties but geared more toward peacekeeping). He is in the same Rifle Competition he was in last year. He will be doing a lot of practicing for that and will ultimately be competing against crack shots (military & otherwise) from around the world. His team did well last year and he hopes they can do even better this year. Trev is currently on 24 hour standby for Bosnia. (See more on Trevor & Emily in Special Events.) |
John John Currie was in the Strasbourg area in early May, seeking addresses to send out invitations to Grandma's 100th birthday party on September 2nd. Speaking of Grandma's party, everyone in the area, including old friends & neighbors, are all invited. It would be great if a group could go out in a couple of big vehicles. Jim & Maryann have a large house and a camper van that they are happy to share with anyone who comes out. There are other relatives there who would welcome the company as well. I received a letter from cousin Fern in the spring. Their family has been going through a rough time with first losing her Dad, Bill, and shortly after on April 8th, Dianne's husband George passed away with cancer. One good bit of news is that Fern & Ken are grandparents again. Austin William was named for his Grandpa & Great Grandpa. Chris received an interesting E-mail on the Internet in June from a total stranger. He wanted to know where Chris fits into the Uhl family because he is related to Uhl's from Sask. His name is Wes Brevig! Chris sent him a message back saying who he is & where he fits in. He copied the whole thing to me and I also sent a message to Go to Page 3 |
