Here we are already on Volume 2 and I am pleased to say that I have received many kind and favorable comments on the inaugural issue.
There were only a few little bumps with the first issue. First I actually made a mistake!! That's right - me!! I had Frank's birthday as April 21st and apparently it has always been April 22nd. You could have knocked me over with a feather. All these years I thought it was the 21st. If anyone other than Diane had told me I was wrong I would have argued until I was blue in the face. However, she was present at the birth, and even though she was probably high on medication, I will take her word for it that it was the 22nd. My deepest and most sincere apologies to Frank. It will not happen again.
Another little "bump" with the first issue is that I sent Dad & Evelyn a newsletter that had 2 page 3's and no page 2's and sent Susan and Rob one with 2 page 2's and no page 3's. Or was it the other way around? Hopefully I will be paying more attention this time.

In choosing a theme for my editorial, now that my apologies are out of the way, I feel the need to vent just a little bit about some of the changes in the military. I know that many of you shared my disappointment in hearing that the Airborne Regiment was to be disbanded. That finally did happen in March. Trevor was a proud member of a proud regiment and they all deserved better treatment than that. He knows that he has the love and support of his family with him during this difficult period of adjustment. Trevor, professional that he is, decided early on to "soldier on" and look after his career. He is looking forward to his future with a good attitude and is not sitting around feeling sorry for himself.
There was also a change in Joy & Reg's military future. The base at Chilliwack will be closing within 3 years. That was a big surprise because it is such a large base. The base at Calgary where Barb and her husband are will also be closing. It is likely that everyone at those bases will be moved to Edmonton but time will tell. Joy & Reg are hoping to go to the Island.
