They also spent time with Brian’s cousins, Don, Doug and
Ken, with their extended families. Most
of us in our family remember these cousins very well from their
occasional
visits to Saskatchewan
when we were kids.

Uncle
Fred strapped on a helmet when he went Go-Cart racing with his
great granddaughter
Belle in
July. She was too young to be
allowed on the course by herself so he immediately offered to go with
her and
do the driving!

Reinhold
took this great picture of Uncle Fred
while they were both staying with Aunt
Elsie during the Strasbourg Homecoming.
Fred’s daughter Lorrie and
her husband Garnet
moved to
Strasbourg early in July. They bought
Heather Schaeffer’s house in the north end.
I managed to get a short but good visit in with them while
I was spending
some time with Uncle Fred.
Aunt
Elinora was in the hospital again in May with her kidney problem. She had another stent put in and then had
some further testing to be done before surgery. Elinor
and Ingolf had all of their family home for a visit over
the July 1st weekend.
Elinor’s surgery was finally done in mid-September. All went well and she looks forward to
feeling healthy and being active again.
Wes
was in Orlando, Florida for a Microsoft conference in June
and had a great tour
of the Kennedy Space Centre. Wes, Karen
& Kim were home for a visit on the July 1st weekend. Wes & Karen also came to Strasbourg to
help care for Ingolf when Elinor had her surgery. Wendy & Dick
also spent time in Strasbourg during the time of
Elinor’s surgery. They all managed to
clean out the garden and yard, as well as clean everything in the house
from top to bottom so Elinor could relax when she got home.
During that same time
period Wendy and Dick headed up to Saskatoon to
a special dinner where Dick received his
pin for being with Parks for 35 years.
It seems like only yesterday that he was a goofy looking
teenager just
starting out at Rowans
Ravine and hanging out with our family. Things
haven’t changed that much because
he’s still kinda goofy and still hangs out with our family, but he sure
isn’t a
teenager any more!
