After that they went to Toronto again where the Aussies were very happy to experience a proper winter storm, not the sort of thing that happens in Australia.  They all spent Christmas at Don & Trudy’s where the guys enjoyed having Christmas stockings for the first time.  From there they drove Danielle back to Calgary, then went to do some skiing at Banff.  More recently Nicole was working at the Chinese restaurant in Strasbourg and the Last Mountain Pioneer Home, working in the kitchen, cleaning, and as a special care aide.  She left for Calgary on April 9th and then on to Brisbane, Australia on the 12th.

Don and Trudy were busy in November when the Last Mountain Theatre Company hosted the “One Act Festival”.  Don was the Assistant Director of their play and Trudy was the Assistant Stage Manager.  They both had other duties as well.  They did not win any trophies but got several Honorable Mentions.  They had a lot of company for Christmas and gave Matt the opportunity of cutting down the Christmas tree, a first for him and his Aussie friends.

At the beginning of the new year, Don and Trudy enjoyed spending some time with Dale and Sandra who were in Strasbourg before moving on to Kamloops.  Don is now involved in a play called “Senior Follies”, which is set in a retirement home.  He plays Lowell Thackery who is after any rich women in the facility.  Trudy is involved in the play as well and this has taken up 2 or 3 nights a week since January.

The Dinner Theatre will be held April 29th and 30th.  Tickets are $30 per person.  If you’re interested in attending, please be in touch with Don and Trudy, don.uhl@sasktel.net  Don has also been very busy with Credit Union meetings, as well as with the truck.  He has a new person competing for his septic business but this certainly hasn’t hurt him in the past.  Trudy still works for User Friendly Computer Systems in Strasbourg on an occasional basis.  She has also recently agreed to be the Secretary for the Strasbourg Co-Op.  Don and Trudy went to a car show in Saskatoon on Easter weekend, then stopped in at Dad and Evelyn’s.  They also plan to attend the Majestics Car Show in Regina on April 23rd weekend.  They saw Brent Butt perform at the Casino in Regina and completely enjoyed his show.  They attended Govan’s Dessert Theatre early in April.

Justin has been very busy at User Friendly as well, going in many days after school and Saturday mornings.  His girlfriend Kayla lives in Regina so he goes to see her when he can, as well as spending time on MSN with her.  Justin has also been involved with the dinner theatre plays, sometimes taping the plays, other times working on the lights.

JO-ANNE & ROY BRANCH

Shortly after publishing the last newsletter, Roy had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic Cipro and was very, very ill for about 8 weeks.  Between that and the bypass surgery he lost 25 lbs.  He was in and out of hospital all through December.  We had Susan, Rob, Alex, Erica, Bill & Tina (Roy’s brother and wife) here for Christmas dinner but we were a pretty subdued crowd because Roy wasn’t able to get up off the couch.  He continued to recuperate all through January and it was well into February before he finally began to feel like himself again and that was only thanks to a wonderful homeopathic doctor.
