He has since gained most of his weight back.  We are out walking as often as possible and that has really helped to build his strength up.  We drove to Pictou area several weeks ago and realized it was the first time we had our new car out on the highway since we bought it in October.  It’s a 2004 Sonata, which we picked out just a couple of days before Allan passed away and finally took possession of a few weeks later when things began to settle down.  We recently purchased tickets to the Olympic Curling Trials, which will be held here in Halifax in December.  That should be great fun.  We had our whole family here for Easter dinner, which was much more enjoyable than Christmas dinner, with Roy fully participating and able to do the carving.

Here is a shot of Roy with his brother Bill.

We also visited friends for a big Easter meal the next day.

I’ve been doing volunteer work since January and I love every minute of it.  I’m in the Cancer Treatment Centre at the hospital every Wednesday afternoon.  My duties are to hand out refreshments to the patients and socialize.  Well, it couldn’t be any better if they paid me!  I have found it to be even more rewarding than I expected and I’ve formed great attachments to some of the patients.

The Kidney clan have been very busy through the winter and spring.  Alex has been taking drum lessons and Rob and Susan are eagerly awaiting his debut as a rich rock star so they can move into the mansion.  Alex is back in Lacrosse again this year and very happy that they get to do more checking than last year.  Erica just began Gymnastics and grinned from ear to ear for the entire hour, loving every moment of it.  Rob and Susan have finished renovating their bathroom and most of the flooring in their house.  It sure pays to have friends in good places with access to everything they need at good prices.  Recently the whole family has been enjoying seeing bald eagles in the trees behind their house.  They are hoping that they are perhaps planning to nest there.

JACKIE & WAYNE BRANCH

Jackie & Wayne hosted a pot-luck for Joy early in March when Joy was in the city to teach a course. They had celebrated Craig’s 29th birthday the same day with coffee and cake.  Easter was at Jackie and Wayne’s.  Denise, Jess, Colleen (Craig’s sister) and Brandy cooked the entire meal.  Craig and Cory were in charge of clean-up.  A very nice change for Jackie, who usually does the bulk of the cooking.
