EDITOR'S SOAPBOX

Helen has been very busy with plans for the reunion in July.  The way things stand right now, it looks as though there will be 2 days at the Bulyea Hall, July 1st and 2nd.  People can attend one day or both days, with the primary day being Saturday, July 2nd.  That is the day that items will be raffled off and the likely meal will be Kentucky Fried Chicken delivered from the city.  The other supper will likely be cold cuts and salads.  Breakfasts would likely be bagels, juice, muffins.  We are looking at having 2 breakfasts and 2 suppers.  A price of $25 each for those attending 2 days and $15 each for those attending one day is being considered.  Children will be free.  This is not “set in stone” pending feedback from any of you who may have other ideas.  Please bear in mind that whatever is being done needs to be arranged for and geography dictates that Helen does much of this herself.

There seems to be little need for a liquor licence, which adds to the cost and the work before and after the event.  The Bulyea bar is right next door and people may also have fridges in their motorhomes where they can store whatever liquor they may want.
We expect to be stocking juice, pop, water in the hall.  What Helen asks of all of you is this:  Please let her know which day you plan on attending if you are only planning on attending for one day.  Please bring old pictures that can be put up for others to enjoy.  You will take these pictures back with you.  Any items for the raffle would be appreciated.
Helen is doing a cross-stitch.  Any crafts or items that may be of interest would be greatly welcomed.  Please be in touch with Helen giving her your thoughts.  She also needs a general headcount, so please let her know if you do plan on attending and how many in your family there will be.  Sending money can be put off a bit longer until plans are more firm.  Her e-mail address is:  hthalgott@sasktel.net  If you would rather phone, her number is 693-9842.

DAD & EVELYN

They had a pile of people in over several days over  the Christmas holidays.  The story was similar at Easter when they had about 20 for a meal and others dropping in over a few days.  They enjoyed having Trev, Chris and Kelsey spend time with them over Christmas.  Dad & Evelyn continued to spend regular time in Strasbourg meeting the other relatives for coffee.  There were only a few times that winter weather interfered with their plans.  Evelyn’s grandson and wife, Landon & Marj have been very busy with their wedding and then taking over the ambulance business after Marj’s grandpa, Harry Hansen passed away.  Evelyn’s granddaughter, Zoe, won an award that rewarded her with a weekend at a nice hotel in the city for her and her family and an awards banquet.  Dad & Evelyn had a variety of family members dropping in for visits and meals over Easter.
