Easter Bread |
1 cup butter 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 cups water 2 cups milk 2 tsp salt 2 packages yeast 8 eggs |
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Beat eggs for 5 minutes, then add sugar gradually, beating all the time. Beat 10 more minutes. Add warmed milk, yeast, salt and about half the flour. Using a large spoon, mix into a thick batter. Add the melted butter, mix well again and continue adding flour until stiff like bun dough. Set aside to rise, pound down once and let rise again. Bake in large size juice cans. Put in only 1/5 of a can of dough because it rises very high. Excellent for toasting. |
