Refrigerator Cookies
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup margarine
1/2 cup crown syrup
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup coconut or nut meats

Sift together dry ingredients, place butter in mixing bowl, beat until creamy and smooth. Add syrup and sugar, beat, stir in egg, blend, add vanilla, coconut and dry ingredients. Mix well, shape into rolls about 2" in diameter. If dough is very soft, chill before shaping. Wrap in waxed paper, chill about 2 hours or until firm enough to slice. Bake in hot oven 8-10 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.

Chocolate: Add 1/3 cup cocoa to batter before adding dry ingredients.

Dutch Fruit: Omit coconut, with dry ingredients add 1/2 tsp each of cloves, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Add 1/4 cup chopped, mixed candied fruit and 1/3 cup almonds.

Peanut Butter: Add 1/2 cup peanut butter to batter before adding dry ingredients.

Raisin: Add 1/2 cup chopped raisins with coconut.
