Now, let's see how many of you can guess why I have inserted this new column. Can you think of who in our family just might have been a teeny bit late getting her family news to me? I don't dare have a contest because I'd have too many first place ties! That's right, you guessed it - TRUDY!! I'm secretly rather glad this happened because it gives me an opportunity to add this new category. The news she sent was for both her family and Larry's family. Read on .... Don & Trudy: It was the usual busy summer for them. There was a Johnson family reunion in early July. They were also celebrating the 100th anniversary of Trudy's great-grandparents coming over from Norway. There was sadness in the Johnson family when Trudy's Uncle Orris died in Aug. Danielle, Nicole & Justin all went to stay with their Pangman grandparents from Aug. 7-13 where they did a lot of swimming and playing with the cousins. August 16 the whole family headed off on their summer vacation. First to Montana, then Wyoming and S. Dakota. They saw many interesting places. Then on to Grand Island to visit Dale & Sandra where they got a private, after hours tour of the zoo. They are happy to report that Dale now has his green card and they are legal in the U.S. On August 29th there was a bad hail storm at their place with hail stones up to 3" across. They got dents in two vehicles. All 3 kids are rather reluctant to report that they are back in school (heavy sigh). Justin's favorite subjects are recess, phys ed and art. He is also in the choir at school. He has dropped Tae Kwon Do for this year and is still taking piano lessons. He spends his spare time playing with Lego, riding his motorcycle and jumping on the trampoline. Nicole is Captain of a House League in the elementary school. She is taking grade 3/4 in piano and has her green belt with blue |
stripe in Tae Kwon Do. She will be in a tournament on Oct. 21. Her favorite subjects are phys ed, math, art and science. She also spends her spare time on the motorbike and trampoline. Danielle is happy to be in grade 10 where she has joined SADD (students against drunk driving) and the yearbook committee. She has also started driver's ed. (I can't believe how time flies!!) She is also taking music lessons, grade 5/6 level and has dropped Tae Kwon Do. She is on her motorbike a lot too and also likes listening to music. Trudy will be teaching some Tae Kwon Do classes in Regina Beach in Oct. She made dill pickles and salsa this year. Don is as busy as usual on the sewer truck this year, despite nearby competition from Darcy Reiss. Larry & Sharon: They spent the first week in August camping at Moose Mountain. They had great weather and are now in the market for a bigger camper. Amber is now in Grade 7 and Dylan is in Grade 4. They are doing okay in school and Dylan has decided that he hates homework (what a surprise). Dylan has sold his go-cart and bought a mini-bike instead. (Can't you all just see Sharon's face when that happened??!!) Amber's horse is back in school for more training. Sharon is getting a lot of hours in at the cafe, even doing some of the cooking. This is in addition to a lot of pickling at home. Larry is getting caught up on his fall work and they plan on digging the basement over by the gravel pit for their new place before this winter. There it is folks - Trudy may not write often but when she does she makes it worth her while. Enjoy! End of the Newsletter Go to the Main Menu |
