Welcome to the inaugural issue of "Uhl Chatterbox". This is an idea that has been in my head for quite some time now. It was Werner's death that finally motivated me to get moving on it. You know, don't put off until tomorrow ....
I plan on making this a quarterly or seasonal publication. This one, Winter 1995, will begin January 1st. Yes I know that winter began on or about Dec. 22 but this just seems more workable.
I plan on having several headings and will include more if necessary. I would like to have "Letters to the Editor" where any of you can give your comments and suggestions. Keep it clean, this is a family newsletter.
I will get my news from all of you via the faxes, letters and phonecalls I receive. Of course I won't print anything private. My idea of this is that I will give little blurbs on each of you that will include any of your family milestones, trips any of you take, awards you or your kids win, company you may have visiting, career changes, activities you or your kids are involved in - you know, usual family stuff.
If there are any of you who seem to have no news at all for the entire quarter we will just assume that no news is good news. If that happens, well, maybe I'll just make something up (kidding).
I must be psychic because I know the 2 words that are on all your lips "Chrissy Underwood". Well, we all know that I'm much too short to be Chrissy, so we'll just leave it at that.
In closing, Roy just asked me a question that many of you may already be thinking (yes, he's psychic too) - "Why are you doing this?" I'm not really sure if I'm doing it for me or for you guys or, more likely, both. I think it's part of my ongoing effort since Mom died to try to remain in close contact with all of you. Because I live so far away I'm probably overly concerned about this. Jim & Jeanne will certainly be able to identify with this. I guess this is part of my ongoing therapy. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
