James is still working as a cook in Beausejour.  Al & Vi Kuly are going to be headed to Manitoba in June for a visit.  Al is in good health, other than some problems with his kidneys.

An old family friend of many of us, Doris Sprungala, passed away in mid February.  She and her husband Ray have been good friends and neighbors of Larry & Sharon, Dave & Nancy for years now.  Several of our family members attended her funeral service.

Axel, Petra & Linus are happy to announce that they are expecting an addition to the family early in August.  Axel’s parents came to visit them for Axel’s birthday in March.  Axel was able to take his motorcycle out for a short spin soon after that when the weather warmed up.  Linus was very sick early in April with an ear infection and high fever.  Axel reports that he is loving every minute of his job with SAP.  He feels he is a member of a wonderful, productive team. Even though he has a beautiful new company car, he hasn’t been able to cut his sentimental ties to his beloved Opel, which has traveled all over Europe with him.  Roy and I had some great times with him in that car, even when we did have to call it “Opel mit hammer” because we needed a hammer to get it started. Axel was in Athens on business April 9-12th.  After that he planned a trip to l’Anneau du Rhin (famous motorcycle racetrack), followed by a visit to Hockenheimring, which is another motorcycle race track where he will be able to drive his own bike around.

They plan a visit to Costa Brava in Spain for two weeks in May.  They will be joined by Petra’s brother and his family.  That will be 4 adults and 5 children.  Should be a fun time.  They hope to get to Barcelona while they are there.

Now this is a real “blast from the past”.  We were watching old videos the other day, which Don had sent us from when he first got a video camera.  It’s so much fun to look at all the old family get-togethers.  I’m sure this guy will recognize himself.  Yes, it is a guy, despite the fact that he is wearing a girl’s hat with a lovely blue ribbon.  It’s a difficult picture to look at because we took the picture of what was on our TV screen after we “freeze-framed” the shot.  The funny thing is that in the background, this guy’s father was heard to say, “You’re going to feel so stupid when you see yourself on TV like that.”  I bet he never dreamed it would end up on the internet too.  Any guess as to who it is?
