Brook flew home to Sask for 12 days over Christmas.  She managed to squeeze in many visits with friends and some shopping, as well as time with the folks and relatives.  Her boyfriend Chris spent Christmas with his family in Winnipeg.  Brook, Kelsey & Sonya went out to a Chinese restaurant in Burnaby just before Christmas.

Brook flew to Las Vegas in February to be bridesmaid for a friend who was getting married there.  While there she saw the Cirque de Soleil Zumanity show, among many other shows.  At the end of February she moved to a new apartment near UBC which puts her much closer to work.  She and Chris are looking forward to the LaConnor Tulip Festival in Washington in April and are planning to go to a Lenny Kravitz concert in May.

Laura & Ted went to visit Brenda & Garry in their new home in Regina at the end of January and made a return trip to do some doggy-sitting in April when Brenda & Garry had some traveling to do.

Mom’s brother, Edward Ebenal, passed away on February 4th due to prostate cancer.  He had just celebrated his 69th birthday on January 31st with a highly unusual and very well organized International Pizza Party.  He was staying with his nephew Gregg (Joe’s son) and they got in some of Ed’s favorite pizza.  That same day there were relatives in many parts of BC and as far as Nova Scotia and parts of the US who also had pizza in Ed’s honour and e-mailed pictures of themselves with their pizza so that Ed could enjoy the company.  Gregg put all the pictures on a very nice slide show.  Ed had a love of life and zest for living that few ever experience.  I spoke with him days before he died and he was looking forward to the next phase of his “life” where he would be able to meet once again with so many well loved family members who had passed away before him.  This picture was taken on his birthday.
